Weekly Yoga Classes

Expect functional teaching woven in with the elements as Bryony delivers her teaching style with a focus on the felt sensation of the body.

Yin yoga classes take reference from Traditional Chinese Medicine, often working with the body’s meridian system, while Vinyasa classes follow the Tantrik Chakra philosophy.

Morning Yin

We'll be bringing our awareness inwards by focusing on target areas and felt sensation as we gently release tension through the fascia muscular system. The energetic elements of nature and the Meridian system with its connected organs will tie in to the postures, bringing a deeper quality to your practice.

This class is for you if: You already love Yin Yoga or you’re a little curious about longer hold postures, the energetic body, and exploring the felt sense though the experiential realm.

Whether you're a beginner/new to Yin or a seasoned yogi, there is room for you.

Morning classes (Thursdays 9.00 - 10.00) will encourage Yin energy gently rising to Yang to start your day, working through the main muscle groups of the body.

Each class will start with a short meditation.

Yin/Yang Flow:

Bringing Yang to the Yin as we flow through an intuitive 75 minute sequence, designed to gently build energy from the ground upwards.

Expect a Vinyasa flow supported either side with classic Yin postures to cultivate embodied awareness to your practice. We breathe and move together - your fascia will be happy!

This class is for you if: You already love Yin Yoga and/or Vinyasa flow, or you’re a little curious about combining these two energies. We focus on the energetic body, and exploring the felt sense though the experiential realm.

Evening classes (Tuesdays 18.30 - 19.45) will cultivate energy and gently promote fascia release in a curious and creative way.

Each class will begin with a short meditation.

Somatic Movement Workshops & Immersions

Bryony runs monthly Somatic workshops at Little Yoga Space(Baixa-Chiado), focusing on the journey into the ‘felt sense’ of the body by using supportive language and grounding movement practices.

Each month works with a different theme around embodiment and often, our connection to nature and ourselves.

What’s somatic movement about?

The ‘soma’ is the body - somatic practices of all kinds are there to give you direct information by supporting regulation of the nervous system. Many practices differ from breath techniques to Polyvagal exercises, to sounding, however all of them ask for your attention to turn inwards.

In my workshops and immersions we primarily work with movement and this can look like grounding - connecting to the earth, releasing - using breath, gravity and fluid movements to help shift energy and the use of active imagination - a Jungian technique that engages with images that might come up in the mind and explore how they sense and feel in the body.

There is no right or wrong way to move, no comparison to others and you don’t need to be someone who has a regular practice to benefit from Somatic exploration, the only important thing is that you’re giving time and space for your moving body.

  • Anyone looking to deepen their relationship with their moving body to or explore their range of movement

  • Anyone looking to supplement their movement practice with something non-linear/experimental

  • Anyone interested in dance/movement

  • Anyone looking to explore and deepen their sense of presence, awareness, connection and support to themselves and others.

How a session unfolds:

All sessions are 1.5 hours (unless a longer-format workshop is being held) and conducted in English. We start with a gentle bringing of awareness into body. We then begin the main portion of the workshop using various techniques, often including language queues, moving and witnessing and some partner work to develop the given theme. There is always space for sharing, reflecting, sometimes touch work and lots of space for creative expression with all art materials provided.

We close as a group, and all movement is an invitation.

You just need to bring yourself, wear some comfy clothes and have a water bottle near by.

Reiki

Bryony offers an opportunity to combine gentle Somatic Movement with the application of Reiki energy simultaneously.

This blend supports the movement of energy throughout the body, creating a moving meditation that flows with the body's natural desire to move.

Experience the power of Reiki combined with a gentle moving meditation to fully integrate and enhance your energy flow.

Sessions are always supported with some hands-on touch and at times Bryony will be moving with you

Traditional Reiki sessions are also available.

Each session focuses on:

  • Full body relaxation

  • Gentle movement of energy following the path of the chakra system, clearing any stagnation and supporting harmonization of energy

  • Somatic experiencing of the body, listening to our body’s voice and allowing movement to arise

  • Allowing time and space for you to pay attention to what your body needs

Who it's for:

  • Anyone looking to reduce stress and restore emotional balance

  • Anyone looking to integrate their body-mind relationship

  • Anyone who might be suffering from stress or chronic illness as an aid to promote anxiety reduction and a greater sense of well-being

  • Anyone looking to explore their body’s connection with energy and movement

How a session unfolds:

All sessions are conducted in English and you’ll be fully clothed, either under or over a blanket if laying down or in comfortable clothes for movement. Each session lasts for 1 hour and after a short conversation to understand your context, Bryony will begin applying the Reiki energy through her hands, hovering over the body at times, and at others she will place her hands on significant parts of the body (all touch is consensual and permission to apply touch is always asked at the beginning of the session) there will be an invitation to feel into the movement of energy and move as desired, focusing through the feet as to remain grounded and connected. Each session closes with a few quiet minutes for the participant to integrate, ground and share if there are any immediate words.

Sessions will be followed up a couple of days later with a message to check-in
